BRMC @ O2 Academy Brixton, London

 

BRMC (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) heitti viime viikon keskiviikkona keikan Lontoon O2 Academy Brixtonissa. Vaikka saavuimme paikalle vasta reilusti ovien avaamisen jälkeen, pääsimme ystävän kanssa silti hyvin lähelle lavaa. Kaksikymmentäviisi biisiä sisällään pitänyt keikka koostui arvatenkin sekoituksesta uusia ja vanhoja biisejä, pääpainon ollessa uusimmalla levyllä. Heti keikan alussa kuultiin suureksi riemukseni yksi ehdottomista BRMC-suosikeistani nimeltä Red Eyes and Tears. Keikan muita henk.koht. kohokohtia olivat Fire Walker, Beat the Devil's Tattoo, What Ever Happened To Rock 'n' Roll, Conscience Killer, Lullaby, Spread Your Love, Lose Yourself ja Robertin yksin akustisesti vetämä Mercy. Juuri ennen encorea soitettu Spread Your Love sai yleisön riehumaan ihan kunnolla ja allekirjoittanut yritti, ja jaksoikin, hyppiä koko biisin ajan ihan pirun korkealle, jotta säilyi hengissä siellä kaksimetristen miesten keskellä. Onneksi tuollaisen urheilusuorituksen jälkeen meno rauhoittui encoressa ja illan viimeisenä kuultu Lose Yourself oli aivan uskomattoman upea veto. Ei siinä voinut muuta kuin huojua transsissa silmät kiinni ja antaa kyynelten valua. Biisi kuulosti livenä vielä paljon paremmalta kuin levyllä, vaikka levyversiokin on ihan mahtava. Tunnelma keikalla oli intiimi ja bändin presenssi lavalla, se karisma oli jotain sanoinkuvaamattoman hienoa. Kaiken kaikkiaan todella hyvä keikka. Omaa kameraa ei keikalla ollut mukana, mutta löysin Youtuben uumenista melko hyvälaatuisen mustavalkoisen videon biisistä Hate the Taste:

BRMC (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) played a gig at O2 Academy Brixton in London a little over a week ago on Wednesday. My friend and I arrived at the O2 Academy way after the doors had been opened but still managed to get very close to the stage. The gig consisted of 25 songs, a mixture of old and new, emphasis on the new album called "Specter at the Feast". Very early on one of my absolute BRMC favorites, "Red Eyes and Tears", was played to my utter delight! Other highlights for me personally were "Fire Walker", "Beat the Devil's Tattoo", "What Ever Happened To Rock 'n' Roll", "Conscience Killer", "Lullaby", "Spread Your Love", "Lose Yourself" and "Mercy" that Robert played alone acoustically. During "Spread Your Love" the crowd really went wild and I jumped extra high throughout the whole song in the midst of very tall men. Luckily the encore after that was quite calm. The last song of the gig, "Lose Yourself" was absolutely amazing! It sounded so much better live than on the album, even though the album version already is really great.  I just swayed there in some kind of trance and let the tears come. The presence and charisma of the band and the atmosphere on that gig was something that cannot really be described. All in all it was a really great gig.
