Love Like Birds

Love Like Birds = belgialainen singer-songwriter Elke De Mey. Naisen tummanpuhuva, herkkä, koruton folk ja lämmin, hieman käheä ja vuotoinen ääni tuo mieleen Marissa Nadlerin ja vielä enemmän Hope Sandovalin. Kun Love Like Birdsia kuuntelee silmät suljettuina, tuntuu kuin Elke soittaisi aivan vieressä, muuten pimeässä mutta kynttilöin valaistussa huoneessa. Nauhoituksissa kuuluu taustalla ajoittain hiljaisia muita ääniä, mutta se ei haittaa vaan tekee musiikista, kuuntelukokemuksesta käsinkosketeltavan. Elke on julkaissut Love Like Birds nimeä kantavan EP'n jo viime vuoden syyskuussa, mutta minä kuulin sen vasta tänään ja päätin heti jakaa tämän ihanuuden teille. Tästä naisesta varmasti kuullaan tulevaisuudessa vielä paljon!

Love Like Birds = Elke De Mey, a singer-songwriter from Belgium. Her dark, delicate folk music and warm, dreamy and a little husky voice reminds me greatly of Marissa Nadler and even more of Hope Sandoval. When you close your eyes and listen to Love Like Birds it feels like Elke is playing her guitar and singing right next to you in a dark room that's illuminated with candles. Other little sounds can be heard in the recordings but it doesn't matter, it makes the listening experience more real. Elke has released a self-titled EP "Love Like Birds" last September. I heard it for the first time today and decided to tell you about her right away. I'm sure we'll be hearing more of her in the future!
