Olen pitkään tykännyt kanadalaisen Leslie Feistin levyistä Let It Die (2004) ja The Reminder (2007). Feist ei kuitenkaan kuulu aivan suurimpiin suosikkeihini, joten uusi levy tuli tietoisuuteni vasta päiviä ennen sen julkaisua. Feist on siis palannut neljän vuoden jälkeen uudella levyllä, joka kantaa nimeä Metals ja uskallan sanoa, että se on naisen paras levy tähän mennessä! Levy alkaa hyvin vahvasti, sillä kolme ensimmäistä biisiä The Bad In Each Other, Graveyard ja Caught A Long Wind ovat mielestäni levyn parhaimmistoa. Suosikkien joukkoon kuuluuvat ehdottomasti myös levyn loppupuolelta biisit Anti-Pioneer (ehkä se paras kaikista) ja Comfort Me. Biiseissä on vahvaa tunnelmaa, joista tulee lähes väistämättä mieleen syvän etelän blues ja sen synkähköt rämeiköt. Monen muun levyn tavoin Metals paranee ja avautuu enemmän useampien kuuntelukertojen jälkeen. Levyn ensimmäinen single How Come You You Never Go There iskee vähiten, joten sen sijaan alla kuunneltavissa läpileikkaus levystä sisältäen järjestyksessä pienet pätkät jokaisesta biisistä. Montaakaan levyn biisiä ei youtuben kautta pysty kuuntelemaan, mutta onneksi täydellinen Anti-Pioneer ei ole yksi niistä. Spotifyssa Metals on kuunneltavissa kokonaan.

I've liked Canadian singer-songwriter Leslie Feist's previous albums "Let It Die" (2004) and "The Reminder" (2007) for a long time now. After four years Feist is back with her new album "Metals" and I dare say it's the best yet! The album starts very strongly with the three first songs "The Bad In Each Other", "Graveyard" and "Caught A Long Wind" being some of the best in the album. Definite favourites of mine are also "Anti-Pioneer" (maybe the very best one of all) and "Comfort Me". The songs have a strong atmosphere that inescapably reminds me of Deep South's blues and it's murky swamps. "Metals" just gets better and better after each listen. The first single "How Come You Never Go There" is my least favourite song on the album so instead of that you can listen to a small clip of the album's each song above. Not many of the songs from the album can be listened to in youtube but luckily "Anti-Pioneer" is not one of them. You can listen to the whole album in Spotify.
