You Have Touched My Life So That Now Cathedrals Of Sound Are Singing

Synkimmät sävelet ihastuttavat eniten, erityisesti The Battle of Trees, Fearlesness ja Star Whisperer. Tori itse onkin sanonut osuvasti: "I think when you listen to Night of Hunters for the first time, because it's designed as a narrative, every song informs the other. Once you know them then I think they can live outside the cycle and stand on their on".

Koko albumin voi kuunnella täällä

Tori aloittaa Night of Hunters -kiertueensa Suomesta 28. päivä tätä kuuta. Apollon Musagète -jousikvartetti on mukana kiertueella, joten tiedossa on jotain ainutlaatuista.

Every review I've read has praised the new album "Night of Hunters" by Tori Amos and I concur. Night of Hunters is a song cycle and it's based on familiar pieces by composers such as Satie, Chopin, Schubert and Bach. Night of Hunters tells a story of a couple that has gone through a shattering of their relationship. It takes place in Ireland and the songs follow the womans psychological process  after the shattering of the relationship through the night. The story is animated by characters: a shapeshifter called Annebelle (sung by Tori's daughter Natasha Hawley) and a Fire Muse (sung by Tori's niece Kelsey Dobyns). In addition to Tori's beloved Bösendorfer piano Apollon Musagète string quartet can also be heard on every song. The whole album can already be listened to here.

I listened to the album in the dark with my eyes closed and let the story unfold. I can't remember the last time I had such strong associations with music, I just saw the music as landscapes in my mind: dark, cold winter in the woods and autumn with cliffs, ivy-covered paths and winds that chill to the bone. The darkest of the melodies appealed to me the most, especially "The Battle of Trees", "Fearlesness" and "Star Whisperer". The songs work together magnificently. Tori herself has put it very well:" I think when you listen to Night of Hunters for the first time, because it's designed as a narrative, every song informs the other. Once you know them then I think they can live outside the cycle and stand on their on".

Night of Hunters -tour starts from Finland on the 28th of this month. Apollon Musagète string quartet will tour with Tori so something extraordinary is in store. This is the first time Tori has brought string musicians on tour with her. I'm already counting the days and hours to the show..
